Observatory
By Grace Faller
Tourists flock
Look at the extensive view
To see
To feed
Me
I am wrapped in cellophane
The cuts
The bruises
My elliptical organs rolled out
People point their 25-cent telescopes
Another quarter every 5 minutes
How can we get a secluded look?
Strip
Strip
Satisfied by the show?
Close-ups?
You stall
To touch?
To watch?
Not just a tourist
You halt to poke my pale margins
A hill of breast
A severed branch- a scarred limb
A dark stream of dyed hair
“What an extensive view,” you proclaim
Blonde hair and blue eyes were so much simpler
Can you connect the star studded dots?
Are you satisfied with my waning insides?
The solar holes you burn in my cellophane?
Pause, momentary
Finished, you walk away
Re-buckle your belt
Another wave of observers
Another brass eye re-adjusting my mistakes
I will re-wrap my cellophane
You will develop my negatives
